At Deutschmann Personal Injury & Disability Law, we believe in the importance of supporting initiatives that promote inclusivity, respect, and human dignity. This Pride Month, we are honoured to feature We Lead With Pride, a portrait series by Bangishimo—a Two-Spirit Anishinaabe artist, community organizer, and photojournalist—on display at our Kitchener office.

The series honours four young queer and trans leaders who are creating spaces where others can feel seen, safe, and supported. Through their advocacy and presence, they foster connection, amplify voices that are often silenced, and inspire lasting change in their communities. Their leadership is not only vital—it is transformative.

About the Artist

Bangishimo is known for their work in visual storytelling and social justice advocacy. Their photography often centres Indigenous, queer, and trans voices, offering a platform for those whose stories are too often marginalized. As a Two-Spirit person, Bangishimo brings a unique perspective to their art—one that is rooted in identity, resilience, and community care.

The We Lead With Pride series is a continuation of that work. With stunning portraits and thoughtful composition, the installation celebrates strength, joy, and authenticity while making a powerful statement about the importance of visibility and leadership within the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.

Why Representation Matters

Representation is more than visibility—it’s about recognition and affirmation. For queer and trans individuals, especially young people, seeing themselves reflected in positions of leadership can have a meaningful and lasting impact. It communicates a message of belonging, potential, and dignity.

The leaders featured in We Lead With Pride are not just symbols—they are changemakers. Through their work in activism, community support, and education, they are helping to shape a future where everyone can live openly, safely, and with pride. Their stories remind us that leadership comes in many forms, and that courage, compassion, and authenticity are some of the most powerful tools for change.

Our Commitment to Inclusion

At Deutschmann de Koning, we understand that legal advocacy extends beyond the courtroom. It involves listening to and supporting the communities we serve. Hosting We Lead With Pride is one small way we can use our space to uplift important voices and conversations.

We are committed to maintaining an environment that is welcoming, inclusive, and respectful of all individuals—regardless of their gender identity, sexual orientation, background, or experience. Whether in our work with clients or our engagement with the broader community, we strive to reflect these values in everything we do.

Visit the Exhibit

We invite members of the public to visit our Kitchener office and view the We Lead With Pride installation. Located at 2200 King Street East, Kitchener, the portraits are displayed prominently on our exterior windows throughout the month of June. We hope this installation offers a moment of reflection, celebration, and connection for all who pass by.

This Pride Month, and every month, we stand in support of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. We are proud to play a small part in showcasing the art and advocacy that is helping to move our society forward.
